About Us

We love good food, and the aim of this section is to showcase the best food that we have come across whether it is in our local area, or found somewhere else in the world during our travels.

Now items on this site are not restaurant reviews as such, they’re reports about good food. Bad food doesn’t generally get a mention. We might compare dishes that we’ve had before against new food we’re trying, but ultimately only the truly excellent food gets a mention here. We don’t review the restaurant itself, although we may tell you a bit about the restaurant if we know enough about it, but it’s entirely possible that the best food around can come from the most unexpected places. Another thing you should know is that our definition of “truly excellent” doesn’t mean gourmet. Anything goes really. If it tastes and looks good it can be truly excellent and that applies whether it’s a sausage roll or a five star meal at a top restaurant. This site is also not generally about our food.  It’s about eating out.

So a bit about our personal gastronomic tastes. Well, we’re not huge fans of fast food for a start, so you probably won’t find much in that department here. That’s not to say we don’t enjoy a good burger that’s for sure. But it must be made in a way that makes it special, and pure. We’re big on Asian food, and can be found at our local sushi place at least a couple of times a month. Aside from that, we love steak and seafood. We love Italian food. Pizza and pasta are always welcome. But there’s a flip-side to all of this. We’re tired of mediocre, we’re tired of bad food, and we’re tired of mass produced, tasteless, non-free-range, hormone filled foods. Ok, we can’t avoid this all of the time, but it’s what we strive for, and if a restaurant’s food fits this bill, it’s more likely that it is going to fit into our definition of damn fine food.

Kudos have to go to Helen Yee from Grab Your Fork blog, Susan Thye from Chocolatesuze and The Food Pornographer for the inspiration to start our own blog.  Thanks!

Cheers!
